Our Weekend

Saturday was super depressing in the morning dropping off Oakey at Petco to be put down.  I started to cry and made the employees feel bad.  To cheer me up, Taylor took me to get doughnuts and then Smash Burger.

At Smashburger the light came onto our faces and Taylor said it was because Heavenly Father was happy to have Oakey back to play with in heaven :)

We spent the evening putting up our Christmas tree!
Pre-lit tree

Some silly little elf got stuck in our tree!

On Tuesday I enjoyed seeing my Mom at our favorite restaurant Dickeys!

And look what my sexy husband made me on some days I was at work!
Maple and brown sugar butternut squash.

Rolled chicken and turkey bacon cheese thing

Ode to Oakey

Cute baby Oakey had to be put down Saturday and we were really sad about it.  She was such a good gecko and super clingy and pretty and easy going.  Ranger would step on her face all the time and Oakey never got mad.  She hunted so well too until she got sick and her tail was always swishing and curling like a cat's.  It was adorable.  We wish she hadn't gotten crypto :(
Loves snuggling daddy

She was bright yellow!  So cute!
Annnnnd…..PEEK A BOO!  She loved Taylor's shoulders…just like mom.

Curl baby

Have fun with Ranger!  You can now step on each others faces up in heaven :)

Dry Ice

To start off the weekend we put some dry ice in the toilet and had fun watching it steam over like Taylor use to do when he was younger with his family.

Taylor made me his "famous" quiche in the pie pan my mom got us.

We went on a date night to temple square.

I found some cute notes Taylor wrote to me in a journal he dedicated to me and our memories.

And Taylor and I had our first Sunday at the U Hospital with our new calling

Duck Nativity

Last year I had casually mentioned to Taylor that I wanted to make a nativity with him.  I've also occasionally told him how much I've wanted to watch him make clay figures.  Taylor use to do claymation movies in middle school and high school and is AMAZINGLY talented.  I wanted to see him work his magic in real life.  So on Saturday, while grocery shopping we saw some clay and decided to go for it.  We decided on a duck nativity since our last name Drake means duck.

The wooden bird house shaped as a star was a perfect find for the nativity!  We also added a drummer boy since Taylor loves the story of the drummer boy.  We shaped all the white clay by hand and then cooked it in the oven.

We painted them the next day.

Nov 9th Game Day

For the U of U and ASU football game, we went over to my parents and cooked them up some pizza

Even though it wasn't a win for both teams, we still all left happy

It was fun making them dinner, especially since the pizza is a tradition in Taylor's family.

Geckos

Unfortunately, our baby geckos have been sick.  Ranger has been sick since we got him from Petco, and the Petco vet kept telling us he was okay so we put him with Oakey and now Oakey is sick too.  :( We took them to a better vet and we will see what happens, but she said it was probably fatal crypto.  We are waiting on some tests.  Ranger is already pretty much on death's door.

Here is Oakey hanging out on Taylor's shoulder.  She is one confused parrot.
Giving kisses

We've had to force feed both geckos a food formula, water, and vitamin supplement each night.  It takes about 30 minutes and lots of patience because the geckos hate it.

Ranger always moves his head away and you have to be super careful how you hold them so you don't crush them.
This is what the babies do when we set them down after force feeding them….they hide!  Just make sure you don't sit on them!

Ranger has been loving taking baths in his water bowl lately.
Bath time is good for sick geckos
Ranger in his bath
Oakey hates baths and always tries to escape

Wrapped up in a napkin towel to get dry after 5 minute bath "torture".

Ranger has been getting so stick thin.  I feel so bad for him.   We will probably put him down.

We wanted to take a picture with our little baby Ranger before he dies/we put him to sleep.

Candy for breakfast…or kale smoothie

This past week we've enjoyed listening to Paramore's Still Into You song

Going on walks in a field across the street we found

Doing a craft with my Mom-in-law Michelle and DeMarie

Getting scared--or more likely Kelsey getting scared and Taylor laughing--at Haunted Pioneer Village for Monday FHE

Watching Taylor play piano with our neighbor's baby that we babysat
Yes, it IS adorable.  You should've seen Taylor holding the baby before though…it was awkward and funny looking; I had to teach him what to do.  I didn't hold the baby since I was sick.

Passing out Halloween candy to 4 people while watching Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin (my first Charlie Brown movie watching experience).  We still have tons of candy :(

Finishing my crochet scarf my Mom-in-law taught me how to do since I stayed home sick from work Wednesday and Friday

Getting Christmas-ready with a gift card from our wedding from Aunt Becky

Feeding ducks at Sugarhouse and watching the seagulls snatch the thrown bread mid-air

Exploring the Planetarium for a quick stop before eating dinner because Taylor thought he took me there but never did
Us on Mars

Going to Applebees with a gift card my parents gave us for Halloween b/c I didn't want to cook and neither did Taylor
Looking up and seeing right above us at Applebees was a French horn!

I haven't enjoyed having the flu, but Taylor made sure to spoil me with making healthy meals I wanted, cleaning the apartment, and making me a kale smoothie before he left for church
