San Fransisco Part I

We left to San Fransisco last Saturday August 8th to celebrate Seth graduating SMU Law School, passing the Bar, getting published, and getting a good job in Houston.  We also celebrated my Dad's birthday while there as well.  Here's an outline of what we enjoyed:

Saturday August 8th
We got bumped from our flight for a $400 stipend to use another day (Don't get too excited, though. Taylor will use it for Med School interviews).

While waiting at the airport for a flight later that day, we watched "The Crocodile Hunter" and enjoyed $30 of Cafe Rio for free...but Taylor was still hungry afterwards, of course...

Our plane was very interesting, we sat in the exit row, but it's also the exit that everyone boarded and unboarded from, so we got a little trampled, and they lit things with a blacklight that made us look like smurfs....at least we were the first off the plane when we landed! We were picked up by my Dad, Mom, Carlie, and Seth who drove down to San Jose airport to pick us up in a huge M.A.V.

So close!  At least I wasn't in the 3rd seat on the aisle, that lady got hit in the head with luggage and backpacks a few times...She was also sleeping most of the plane ride I think? ...

Hashtag, no filter.  Hashtag, plane party.  Hashtag, weird headache.
Mormon Assault Vehicle with a ray of sunshine.

Sunday August 9th
Alcatraz!

The water tower with Native American graffiti.
All the seagulls were nesting around the island.
The audio tour.  I can vividly recall the story of one of the prisoners stabbing another person with a fork in the leg in the cafeteria when I went 15 years ago...luckily this one was not as scary....They made it more PG.
The prison bunks.
"Let me out!  Let me out!  Let me out!"
Pier 39, with sourdough bread clam chowder
Delicious!

And Sea Lions!
Do you know how hard it was to pull Taylor away from looking at these ALL day?

Ghiradelli Factory

Thank goodness for lactase pills!  That ice cream sundae was MINE!  I love this picture because it's so real life too.  I can't eat any dairy without those pills...sad face. :(
Taylor St.
Excuse me, San Fran, I think it should be called Hottie St.  Thank you.
Lombard St., the most crooked road in the world.

Beach walk.
Beach pose.
Later that evening, we had dinner with Charlie and Chelsea!
Mom Justice, Kelsey, Chelsea and Charli, Carlie (ft. Ken)

Carlie, Chelsea, Charli, Kelsey.  It's like a song.

Monday August 10th
Saw UCSF Med School (which Taylor got a secondary from!!!)

Morning visit to Golden Gate Bridge, Presidio, and the beach
Foggy bridge.

Jimmy Neutron hair!
Sausalito
Saucy photo.
Seth was just done watching Taylor take so many model pics...

In the afternoon we explored Muir Forest.

Did you know that the Titanic did not run into an iceberg, but a redwood?

Bicep Photobomb!

And Carlie's phone fell into the wooden slats of the boardwalk.  You would think you could push the phone with a stick to the outside, but that was boarded off as well.  Luckily, I have small hands and Taylor can work wonders with surgical tools skinny branches.
The tools to the rescue.
In reality, Taylor used his secret wizard powers.
Also, forget about Chicago. San Fransisco should be called the windy city:
My peplum shirt kept blowing up in the wind so Taylor told me to take a Marilyn Monroe pic.
Luckily, he still had the camera going because right after I took my hands away, my skirt-like shirt blew up again.  This face is pure candid.  It's Taylor's and my favorite pic.
Whoops!
Taylor thinks this is the cutest pic of me. He says so constantly.

We had to visit Taylor and Bay St. to recreate a photo
Back in the day... (Crying because his Mom made him take a picture.)
The present... (Crying because we went to the exact same spot to take a picture 20 years later, but they took down the mural.)
But there were Trolleys!

Coit Tower for impressive views.
Can you find Lombard Street?

After the Coit Tower, we went to China Town, where we ate White Rabbit milk candy with rice paper, and Pocky sticks.

And we explored the Financial District to visit where Dad use to work.
This involved sneaking into a Glass elevator we used to ride when we were little with Dad when he was working in SF.

Right around the district was Union Square

And the Sir Francis Drake Hotel!
Red hair is very genetic.

To finish the day, we stopped at Blondie's Pizza where Dad use to eat dinner after he called us. Of course, Taylor got wheat crust veggie pizza...health geek.

Tuesday August 11th

We started the day on a good note: Carlie and Seth sold their first home!

We walked the beach by our hotel and saw dredging in harbor.

Pull ups and step wars between us all.  Carlie and Seth gave me my Christmas present early so we could battle step through California.

We left San Fran to go to Monterey Bay. On the way we went to Mavericks Mexican to celebrate Carlie and Seth selling their house, and my Dad's birthday.

Monterey Bay Coastline walk. Taylor's favorite kind of beaches.
My pink shoes really fit in.

Sunset on the Bae...Bay...
To end this day, we unexpectedly found Round Table Pizza for dinner to relive Carlie and my soccer glory days.
