Memorial Day came and Taylor studied except when he made me
3, 2,1 Cake for my birthday.
So I spent the rest of the date with my parents. And my favorite chocolate cake...star shaped because I'm an all-star!
Also, had to show off my selfie stick to my parents.
And work even paid for my birthday trip to Indiana...just kidding. I got invited to attend CMSC (Multiple Sclerosis Consortium) in Indianapolis. (My work picks an infusion RN to go each year.) It was super interesting! Even though I had to wake up at 3 am to catch a plane and then my bag at the airport weighed 53 lbs so I had to scramble and take things out or pay $100...($100 for 3 lbs?!?) And it was hilarious when my coworker showed up with just a small carry-on as her baggage. She's a pro and obviously I need tons of clothes to do dress changes depending on the seminar I'm attending or the MS Nurse party I want to show up to...Haha!
It was raining at Indianapolis when we showed up and at first I started walking outside with my 53 lbs bag in the pouring rain until I realized there is this cool skywalk that connects all these hotels to the convention center. You can see the rain on the windows. |
My Hotel |
The hotel where most the lectures took place which was about 2 blocks away. |
All bright and starry-eyed to go to my first lecture after I finally reached my hotel.
Notice the chocolate covered pretzels which were my lunch. And a dang good lunch! |
Swanky digs for the week.
And here I am lost walking around the convention center/sky bridge for about 20 minutes.
Also I was starving and it seemed like all the food spots were closed....Nobody likes to be lost and hungry!
Hangry face. |
Here is a snapshot of what the lectures looked like. The people presenting are geniuses. I feel like a learned a lot and it was interesting to see everyone's research and where research is going now.
Also, all the fire hydrants in Indianapolis are teal...They are so hipster.
IOMSN held a dinner for the MS RNs. It was super cute how they decorated the tables like the Indy 500. Also, it was fascinating to talk to other infusion RNs and learn about their clinics (how many patients they have, what drugs they infuse, how they do their infusions, how many RNs work there. Our clinic is huge compared to most others!)
My Dad and Mom paid for Tay Tay to come visit me. He took MCAT tests and studied while I wandered lost around the convention center went to lectures. I couldn't believe how many times I got lost...I mean, really, those first two days and those maze corridors...
We visited the Indianapolis med school because Taylor is applying there and we wanted to see if we would like living there.
It was by a super cute canal (WITH DUCKS) so of course Taylor was all over it.
Also, I found Lady Justice while searching for dinner one night. You can totally tell we are related.
I mean look at those poses! |
We enjoyed walking all around the city. It's a little smaller than SLC and less spread out so after sitting all day long for 8-9 hours it was nice to stretch our legs.
Some cool cornucopia thing we found on a bridge.
Who's snuggled in my hair? |
I would like to say she's hugging me so tight her eyes are squeezed shut in happiness, but she fell asleep on me...because she loves her mama and knows she's safe. Parker and Lorien pooped her out! |
"If you'd like to have a logical explanation
How I happened on this elegant syncopation,
I will say without a moment of hesitation
There is just one place
That can light my face.

Oh my gosh! That was a hilarious post! I love your blogs! You are such an amazing writer! Yes, that star shaped cake was for my super star! You should share this post link on FB. It is totally funny and nothing is private here. Some day you will be published. You are an incredibly gifted writer! Looking forward to reading Taylor's application when you send that too! He's a gifted writer too! Thanks for spending the day with me. It is always fun to hang out with my hipster friend. I love that my daughters are my best friends too! Love you! Mom
Glad you had a good trip.
That was an interesting post. I enjoyed the pictures of your trip to Indiana. Also glad Taylor could be with you and your 53 pound bag. Dad
Ha ha! I enjoyed reading your funny blog again! That's a cute jingle at the end! I like how you made up the word, "hangry." Too funny, but legit! I also thought that was cool how you were able to do a line crossing out the words about wandering lost around the convention center. I didn't know you could do crossed out lines like that. Cool! And funny! Looking forward to your visit tonight! Love you! Mom <3
